How long is a session?
One session is 45 minutes to 1 hour long; this includes preparation time and closing tasks.
How does my payment work?
Payment per session is a fixed hourly rate. You will be paid for the number of sessions you conduct.
How is the monthly payment structured?
Monthly payments will be made on or before the 05th of every month for the time period of 1st to 30th/31st of the previous month.
What is the minimum qualification to apply?
- Age between 18 - 55.
- NIC/Passport/Driving License in English.
- A bank account under your name in Sri Lanka/in a position to open one.
- An undergraduate/graduate in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) related qualification for higher studies or have Maths/Statistics as a module in your higher qualification.
Are there work opportunities during the weekend?
We currently work during the weekdays, however, we are looking to expand, which will eventually have exposure to working during the weekend as well.
What are the working hours?
Working hours are between 12:00 PM IST to 9:00 PM IST / 1:00 PM IST to 10:00 PM IST (Daylight-Saving). You will have the flexibility to pick the hours you would want to work.
How often am I paid?
You will be paid monthly.

Am I required to travel to the office?
No, as it is a 100% remote working opportunity.
Will it be possible to conduct sessions via smartphones?
All sessions should be conducted via a laptop/desktop with a strong internet connection.
Note: smartphones and tablets are strictly not allowed to conduct sessions.
Will it be possible to conduct sessions via Bluetooth?
Sessions should be conducted via a USB headset with a noise-cancellation feature and a mute button.
Is there any additional cost involved when signing up to be a tutor?
No, there will not be any registration or sign-up fee.
How many students will be in a session?
You will teach 1 student per session. This is to provide a better environment for interaction, to adapt according to the need of the pupil, to customise the lesson as per the level of the student and for deeper/varied learning opportunities.
Do I need to have my own laptop/desktop to register?
At the moment it is not necessary to have your own laptop/desktop. However, in the event, you are selected to deliver sessions, you will have to invest in the necessary technical resources.
What will happen during the Teaching Interview?
During the interview, you will teach a lesson to an internal quality controller who will pretend to be your student, this is to give you exposure to a real teaching environment.
What is the structure of training?
You will be assigned to complete online courses, teaching demonstrations, and interactive live webinars for 2 weeks, of which you will have to commit to a few hours each day.
Batch training consists of:
1) Webinar - To give you an in-depth understanding of the courses assigned.
2) Demo - To familiarise yourself with the classroom, tools, and teaching techniques.
3) Self-Learning - Dedicate your time to go through important learning resources that will be shared.
Expectations during the training:
1) Your 100% attendance is mandatory.
2) Achieve the desired deadlines throughout the training program.
3) Aim to successfully pass the final assessments at the end of the program.
Is this a full-time or a part-time job?
This is a flexible job opportunity, where you can decide your working schedule.
Are we getting paid for the 2 weeks of online training programme?
Yes, a training allowance would be paid after you complete and pass the training.
What are the topics covered during the training programme?
We have a variety of areas that are covered during the initial tutor training programme:

How do I prepare for the Teaching Interview?
You will be provided with the relevant preparation materials with the Teaching Interview confirmation email.
I have registered and created an account, but have not yet been contacted. When can I expect a response?

I went through your training, and it requires more commitment, isn't this expectation more for a part-time tutor?
The delivery of Maths sessions to the schools of the UK is of very high standards. We ensure all our tutors are geared to take up tutoring with confidence by providing training, guidance and continued feedback, etc., and therefore it is important that our tutor team is passionate about teaching and is willing to consider joining our team.
How much data is generally consumed when delivering sessions?
Approximately 100 - 150 MB per session.
Are the syllabus and the teaching materials provided?
The UK National Curriculum Syllabus will be followed and you will be provided with the necessary teaching materials and techniques both before and during a lesson.
What is the standard of the initial Maths test?
The standard is higher than the primary syllabus in the UK, which tests the basic concepts of Maths.
Can I request changes in my availability slots during the year?
You may increase your availability after a discussion with your Relationship Manager.
What is the information required to be submitted during the Audit?
You will be provided with a form to submit the following documents:
- Personal, professional and educational details
- Proof to ensure that you are free from any criminal records
For example: Grama Sevaka Certificate and Police Clearance Certificate are expected to be submitted as soft copies
What is tested during the Phone Interview Stage?
You will be tested in the following areas:
- Grammar, accent and pronunciation in English
- Sentence formation in English
- Teaching skills and Subject Knowledge in Maths
I am not able to sign in to my TSG account. What should I do?
There is a possibility that you may have mistakenly added a space/s at the beginning or end of your email address/password. If you are still facing difficulty, send us a screenshot of your issue on WhatsApp at +94707677677 along with your email ID that was used to register with us.
As an Online Maths Tutor, what are the additional resources I will have access to?
You will receive access to all our internal systems, portal, and resources, so you are fully equipped to start delivering sessions.
How can I apply for the Secondary OMT vacancy?
We currently do not hire secondary tutors directly. We provide this opportunity to our existing tutor community, for those who have experience in delivering primary sessions.
Do you have vacancies for other subjects apart from Maths?
Currently, we only provide tutoring in Maths. We are looking at expanding to other grades and subjects, and our latest updates on those will be posted on our social media platforms. Stay connected!
How long does it take to audit my profile?
You will get an update regarding your profile within 1 to 2 weeks of submitting your documents.
I'm in the training stage and will not be able to commit for one or two days. What is the procedure to be followed?
You are advised to reach out to your training supervisor & you will be sent a "request and queries" form to submit your details. Subsequent recordings will be uploaded on the Talent LMS platform and demos will be rescheduled.
Note: If you take leaves, more than the quota allocated, the training supervisor will drop you out of the training program.
What are the maximum hours, I can choose to work?
We encourage you to provide the maximum availability based on your convenience. However, we do have a minimum requirement of 5 to a maximum of 35 sessions per week.
What are the main requirements that I should be prepared with in order to give my 100% participation in the 2 weeks training program?
Please make sure to have a:
- Fully functioning laptop / desktop
- Good network connection
- Noise-canceling headset
- Work environment with no background noise
Is there any guidance provided once session delivery commences?
Yes, in addition to the initial tutor training, you will continue to have on-the-job training for 12 weeks.
How am I eligible for the training allowance?
You are eligible for the training allowance if you meet the below requirements:
- Submitting the application form, which consists of:
o Personal, professional & educational details
o Grama Sevaka Certificate and Police Clearance Certificate (soft copies).
- Completing all training modules
- Completing the Final Assessments
- Successfully passing the training
Is it mandatory to have a commercial bank account to deliver sessions?
Yes, as you will need to provide a Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC account details to start receiving your monthly fees.
Can I submit my family's bank account details?
You will need to have a personal bank account or joint account under your name to deposit your monthly fees.
I have already obtained a PCC for another purpose, can I submit the same?
If it has been issued within the past six months, you may proceed to upload the same. However, if it is not the case, you will need to follow through with the process of obtaining a new PCC.
Is Grama Sevaka Certificate a mandatory document?
It is a document that is required in the process of obtaining a PCC as proof. However, if you can submit the final "PCC" document, you are not required to upload a Grama Sevaka Certificate.
Am I charged with an income tax?
The Ministry of Finance has published a gazette with respect to the new tax regulation for service fees.
Therefore, if your income exceeds LKR 100,000 per month, then you will have to incur a withholding tax of 5%.
Can I take a day off at any given point?
Yes, you can with the relevant notice period (you will be notified of your leave guidelines once you start delivering sessions).
How do I exit my contract?
You will need to provide 6 weeks of notice periods, which needs to be in line with the term end.

I live abroad, how do I obtain a PCC?
PCC serves the purpose of confirming your criminal record background. Hence, you can proceed with one of the following options:
1. Obtain Police Clearance from your local police station (relevant to your residence).
2. Request for a letter from the Sri Lankan embassy (relevant for your residence) to clear you of any criminal records.
3. Initiate the Sri Lankan PCC process through the Sri Lankan Embassy.
