Technology has been changing continuously throughout time in all aspects. One field, in particular, that has seen a rapid technological shift in the recent past is the field of education. Though many of these new advancements in education technology possessed the potential to make revolutionary improvements in the quality of learning, the willingness to adapt them had yet to see the light of day for most schools and educational institutions.

1. Video Assistant Learning

The picture Superiority Effect refers to the phenomenon in which images and pictures are more likely to be remembered than words. It is now a common trend to use animated videos and graphical interpretations for teaching as it helps to grasp the attention of the students in a much more effective manner. Video Assistant Learning is extremely useful for subjects which take a long time to learn by reading textbooks.

2. Flipped Learning

Just as the name itself depicts this is a method of turning the usual learning method upside down. The concept in a nutshell is that students are initially introduced to the content and subject matters at home and are practised to work through it at school. The usual concept is to do the vice versa of this process but this proves to show a better understanding of the students with regards to the content taught at school. It also helps students to learn in-depth with a better understanding. For example, let’s suppose that the lesson which is taught tomorrow at school is on Human Revolution. All students are asked to watch certain videos and presentations related to this on the prior day as homework so that the students will have an idea of the subject when it is taught in school the next day.

3. Personalized Learning

The traditional way of learning was based on teachers teaching a standard curriculum. This usually does not take the capacity of the student into consideration. Personalized learning is a process in which the learning material and the way it is taught are customized according to the student's abilities and skills. This has proven to be more effective because it targets a specific student only after considering his/her strengths so that they could be improved more and also his/her weaknesses so they can be corrected.

4. Learning with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality

Using AR and VR helps to develop the practical aspects of learning. AR adds virtual objects to the real world in which the student is able to get a 3D view which in turn makes the class more interactive. AR/VR also gives the ability for the students to put what they have learnt into action.

5. Online One-to-One Tutoring

Education is essential for all students, however, not all students are the same. Some students possess the capability to grab knowledge more quickly than others. In a classroom, this often results in some students falling behind and feeling frustrated. One-to-one interactions between a student and a teacher would help in better understanding each other and for a student to be able to learn at his or her own pace. Research even has proven that one-to-one is one of the most effective methods of teaching students.
