Every year on the 8th of March, the world celebrates International Women’s Day. It is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of women from the past and at present. It’s a day in which women around the world are praised for their bravery, strength, beauty, leadership qualities and for making the world a better place.

This year's theme focuses on “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”.

Women from the highest levels of decision-making to frontline service delivery have been fighting against COVID-19 for the past year. With 70% of women represented in the healthcare workforce, their commitment meant exposure to a greater risk of infection. As a result, they’re seen as heroines in the eyes of many. The COVID19 pandemic in many ways has proven that women, just as men, had a vital role to play, and it does not end there.

Women from all over the world are gradually yet rapidly making their leadership presence felt over a wide variety of disciplines, namely entrepreneurship, administration, education, engineering, health, etc. They have proven to be inspirational and transformational leaders. The scope for female leaders seems to be widening giving them equal opportunities. Over the recent past, women have made significant gains in educational attainment, not only for career success but also to remain a competitive force in the corporate world.

At Third Space Global, we consider diversity and inclusion to be an important part of our culture, whilst proudly boasting that females make up the majority of our workforce which consists of talented and highly motivated female leaders throughout our roles, Senior management, Management, Executive to tutor operations. It is within these dynamics that we as an organisation have been able to continuously progress from strength to strength led by this fearless and persistent team of female leaders at our helm.

Creating an atmosphere where all employees including women are continuously encouraged to reinvent themselves and foster a growth mindset has been pivotal in our success throughout our journey. In the course of our existence, we’ve witnessed many of our female team members join in on our journey and grow with us in their careers and significantly broadening their scope of skills. In a world where the ability of women to lead is sometimes questioned, we play an active part in creating opportunities to instil confidence in all our female employees.

It is an undoubted and proven fact that the approach in terms of decision-making and practical problem-solving skills differs greatly between men and women. For example, men tend to be more focused on a single and the more immediate task at hand while also being more apt to zone out in a meeting since their brains are designed to enter a "rest state" more easily than women. In that same meeting, women may run off-topic before returning to the task at hand because they're born multi-taskers. This means that women bring different skills in what they do, which is that they are relatively more likely to be able to think broader while also being able to look into the finer details in things.

This ideal mix of mindsets and perspectives in our team at Third Space Global is why we’re able to strike an almost perfect balance. With a 62% female representation in our board and over 82% female representation of tutor staff, the impact that women have made at TSG over time is bewildering.

It is precisely why we at Third Space Global are able to take full pride and give a deeper meaning to the very purpose of our existence and what we do, ‘Teach The World’
